What is the AR-11 for?
It is a short form: names, A-number if you have one, the old address, the new one, and the date of the move. According to the official page, it has no fee.
The instructions explain that the AR-11 records your new address but does not by itself update every pending case. For that, USCIS describes a separate step per receipt number.
Who the obligation applies to and what exceptions exist is written in the official instructions. Paso Libre does not decide whether it applies to you; it describes the form.
Who usually files it?
- According to the USCIS instructions: a non-citizen living in the United States who changed their address, including permanent residents.
- According to the USCIS instructions: each family member files their own notice, children included; a parent signs for a minor.
- According to the USCIS instructions: there are exceptions, such as certain diplomats and short-stay visitors. The list is in the instructions.
