What is the G-1145 for?
When you mail a packet to USCIS, the paper receipt notice can take weeks to arrive. The G-1145 requests a near-immediate electronic notice with the receipt number.
It asks for only three things: your name, your email address, and your mobile number. According to the official page, it has no fee.
The message confirms that USCIS accepted the envelope. It says nothing about the outcome of your case; that part comes later, by mail.
Who usually files it?
- According to the USCIS instructions: anyone mailing an application or petition to a USCIS lockbox who wants the electronic notice.
- According to the USCIS instructions: one sheet is clipped to the front of each form in the packet, not one per envelope.
- According to the USCIS instructions: it does not apply to applications filed online, which already receive notices in the account.
